5 Ways to Go Green With Your Home For St. Patrick’s Day!
In observance of this celebrated holiday we thought it would be the perfect time to turn everything green, including your home. By going green you help the environment and can save money on your utility bills. Here we share 5 tips to help you go green with your home which will ultimately help you save energy AND money.
Use Less Paper
Go green by using less paper. Opt-out of paper catalogs, get rid of notepads and use travel mugs instead of paper travel cups. You can go digital with your mail and use dry erase boards to reduce the amount of paper you use in your home.
Upgrade your Flooring
If you are considering a home renovation, green your floors by using bamboo or repurposed woods. Bamboo is environmentally friendly and repurposed woods means less use of natural resources.
Think Reusable
You can go green by reducing the amount of plastics you use around the home. When you go to the grocery store don’t get plastic sandwich bags, grocery sacks, plastic cups and gallon milk containers.
ENERGY STAR Appliances
By replacing your home appliances and purchasing energy-efficient ones you can give your home a modern look and feel while lowering your electric bill. It is recommended that if your appliances are more than 10 years old you should upgrade to an ENERGY STAR certified option.
Flip the Switch
Make your home green by reducing the power. Be sure to turn off lights in rooms you are not using. You can also switch to solar power to reduce the amount of electricity you use in your home. We hope these tips helped you get your fill of green for St. Patrick’s day and we hope you have a happy and safe holiday!
